The Advantages of LUMINEERS®
When it comes to dealing with dental problems, there are many great options out there to consider. Some are focused solely on dealing with a single dental problem, such as teeth whitening. Other dental care solutions are more versatile and can be used to address multiple dental problems. Whatever your particular needs may be, the Raleigh area cosmetic dentists and dental care specialists here at our practice will be able to help you meet your aesthetic goals.
About Traditional Porcelain Veneers
One particularly versatile dental treatment to consider is porcelain dental veneers. Raleigh porcelain veneers are these thin shells of a special dental ceramic that are affixed to the front parts of the teeth. When in place, the veneers are indistinguishable from your natural teeth. Whether you’re under artificial light or outdoors, no one will realize that you have porcelain veneers in place. All they’ll notice is how wonderful your smile looks.
Dental Problems That Porcelain Veneers Can Address
Because they are so versatile, we can use porcelain veneers to deal with many different dental problems at our family and cosmetic dentistry center serving Raleigh. Porcelain veneers are commonly used to address chipped teeth and cracked teeth. They can also be used to deal with major stains on teeth that cannot be treated with teeth whitening. Most surprising to many patients is that uneven or misaligned teeth can also be treated through the use of porcelain veneers. This last use of veneers is why many people call them “instant orthodontics.”
About LUMINEERS®
A major advance has been made in recent years, however. That advance in veneer techniques and technology is LUMINEERS®. These LUMINEERS® are thinner than porcelain veneers and yield comparable results. In fact, when possible, we often opt for using LUMINEERS® on patients rather than traditional porcelain veneers.
The Benefits of LUMINEERS® Over Traditional Porcelain Veneers
One of the primary benefits of LUMINEERS® is that there is no tooth preparation required for their placement. With traditional porcelain veneers, a small amount of tooth material must be removed from the face of the tooth in order to fit the veneer in place. While this amount of tooth material removal is only about one-half millimeter, ideally we’d like to be as conservative as possible.
With LUMINEERS®, our cosmetic dentists in Cary do not need to remove any tooth material whatsoever. This means teeth that have more natural, healthy structure intact yet are enhanced with results like those of porcelain veneers.
Alternatives to Porcelain Veneers and LUMINEERS®
There are instances in which porcelain veneers and LUMINEERS® will not be able to help a patient. As versatile as they are, they do have their limits. In such cases, other treatment options such as dental crowns, inlays, onlays, and so forth will be considered. We will always take into account aesthetics as well as dental health when informing you and helping you decide on your dental care options.
